Creative Prompting, Feedback and Coaching for Artists of Any Age

Something not right, or an idea for Squirrel? Write to bellabee@kpburgess.com and we'll get back to you. It helps to mention whether you're on an iPad or a Mac, and which version of iPadOS or macOS.

Common questions

Why don't I get feedback on my artwork?

Feedback is written by Apple Intelligence, on your device. It needs:

  • an iPad or Mac that supports Apple Intelligence,

  • iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later,

  • Apple Intelligence switched on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri, with its models finished downloading.

Everything else, including prompts, the timer, the Workshop and the Burrow, works without it.

Can feedback be gentler, or more direct?

Yes. Tap your avatar, then Settings, and choose a feedback style: gentle or candid. You can also set your age and how experienced you feel, so feedback and suggested guides are pitched just right. Artists under 11 always get encouraging feedback.

How do I get a different prompt?

Tap the refresh button on the prompt (⌘R on the Mac), or add a twist for an extra challenge. Choose Free roam to build your own prompt from ingredients.

How do I earn acorns?

By making art: sharing a piece, staying for the whole focus timer, your first piece of the day, keeping a streak, taking on a twist and sharing skill-guide practice. Acorns can never be bought with money. Spend them on your avatar's hats, glasses and more, and unlock prize characters as your total grows.

My pieces aren't showing on my other device

Squirrel syncs through your own private iCloud. Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on, and open Squirrel on each. Your profile shows the sync status under Settings › Your devices. New pieces can take a minute to arrive.

How do I delete a piece?

Open it in the Burrow and use the delete button in its top corner.

Is my artwork private?

Yes. We don't collect any data, and your artwork never comes to us. See the privacy policy below.

Squirrel Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 September 2026

Squirrel is made by Aurelia Burgess and Bella Bee Labs. In short: we don't collect any of your data. Squirrel has no accounts, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking, and we don't run any servers.

Your artwork and profile

The pictures you share, your prompts, feedback, skill-guide progress, acorns and avatar are stored on your own device. We never see them.

iCloud sync

If you're signed in to iCloud, Squirrel keeps your pieces and settings the same across your iPad and Mac using your own private iCloud database. That data belongs to your Apple Account and is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We can't read it. You can switch iCloud off for Squirrel in your device's settings, and everything stays on the device.

Feedback and Apple Intelligence

Feedback and some prompt ideas are written by Apple Intelligence, on your device. Your artwork isn't sent to us or to any third party. If a future version uses Apple's Private Cloud Compute for larger requests, Apple processes them privately, doesn't store them, and doesn't make them available to us.

Camera and photos

Squirrel only uses the camera when you choose to photograph your artwork, and only reads the photos or files you pick. The picture is kept with that piece in the app. Apple Intelligence views and processes your submitted image on-device (or, potentially in future, using Apple Private Cloud Compute), meaning that your images remain private to you: they are never shared with a third party, never with the app developers, never with Apple, and never processed by a third-party AI. Nobody but you has any access to the images or camera feed you share inside the app.

Notifications

If you allow them, Squirrel shows a notification on your device when your focus timer ends. These are scheduled on the device and involve no data leaving it.

Children

Squirrel is made for artists of any age, including children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, there's nothing for us to store, share or delete. The app has no chat, no sharing with other people and no links to buy anything, and acorns can only be earned by making art. There is no option to buy in-app acorns with real-world cash.

Deleting your data

You can delete any piece in the Burrow. Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. To remove synced data from iCloud, go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage (on the Mac: System Settings › [your name] › iCloud) and delete Squirrel's data.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Questions are welcome at bellabee@kpburgess.com.

Amphibious. Multi-platform investment watcher with simple import.

What Amphibious does

Amphibious watches your investments for you. It answers one question for every holding: would I make or lose money if I sold it today?

  • Simple import. Take a screenshot of your holdings on your investment platform's app or website and drop it in. Amphibious reads the names and figures for you. Prefer to type? You can add holdings by hand too.

  • True break-even for every holding. The price per unit at which selling gets back everything you paid after your platform's dealing and currency exchange charges, which is a figure most platforms don't show. Profit and loss are shown after charges too.

  • Getting out of long losers. Holdings that have been under water for months are watched closely, and you're told when one could break even soon and when it finally does.

  • Watching in the background. Prices are checked every 15 minutes (you can change this), even with the window closed. You get an alert when something worth knowing happens.

  • Works with any platform. Hargreaves Lansdown, AJ Bell, interactive investor, Fidelity, Vanguard, Barclays, Trading 212, Freetrade and others, with screenshots of your holdings from their phone apps or websites.

Your privacy

In short

  • No account, no sign-up, no password. Amphibious doesn't know who you are, and never asks you to log in to your platform.

  • Screenshots never leave your Mac. They're read by macOS's own built-in text recognition, on your Mac. The image isn't uploaded, and it isn't kept after it's been read.

  • Your figures never leave your Mac. Values, amounts paid, gains and losses, units, break-evens, targets, account names and your alert history are stored in a file on your Mac only.

  • Only names and codes go online, to look up prices: the ticker codes of your investments (e.g. ULVR.L) and, when matching a new holding, its name (e.g. “Unilever”).

  • No adverts, no analytics, no tracking, no data sold. Amphibious has no servers of its own; nothing is sent to its maker.

  • Screenshots you import are read in memory by macOS's built-in text recognition (the same technology as Live Text in Photos), then discarded. Never uploaded, never saved.

  • Your holdings: names, values, amounts paid, gains/losses, units, break-evens, targets live in a database file on your Mac, in your user Library (~/Library/Application Support/Investment Watcher).

  • Account names, sales and profit banked, settings and alert history in the same file, on your Mac.

  • Mac notifications are handled by macOS on your Mac only.

  • Backups you save stay on your Mac, wherever you choose to save them.

  • The Amphibious window talks to its own background watcher on your Mac through a private local connection that other computers can't reach.

What goes online, and to whom

Amphibious needs today's prices, so it asks public market-data services for them. This is everything it sends:

Yahoo Finance - finance.yahoo.com

The ticker codes of your holdings (e.g. ULVR.L) and currency pairs (e.g. GBPUSD=X). When you add a holding: its name or code as search words. Prices, price history, market opening hours, dividend history, exchange rates and matching listings. This service is polled during each price check, live prices while the window is open, and while you add holdings. Information about your holdings is never shared when requesting this live price, dividend and exchange rate data.

Financial Times markets data - markets.ft.com

For UK funds that Yahoo doesn't price: the fund's name or its ISIN code (the fund's public identity number), the fund's price and price history, are polled during each price check, live prices while the window is open, and while you add holdings. Information about your holdings is never shared when requesting this live price, dividend and exchange rate data.

Never sent:

How much you hold, what it's worth, what you paid, your gains or losses, your break-evens or targets, your account names, or anything that identifies you. Like any website you visit, Yahoo and the FT can see your internet address and which codes were asked for. No cookies, logins or personal details go with those requests. Your platform's selling charges are built into Amphibious, so nothing is fetched from your platform. Links to platforms' charges pages only open in your web browser if you click them.

Staying in control

  • Phone push is optional. Leave the ntfy topic blank and alerts stay on your Mac.

  • Live prices can be turned off by setting Live prices to 0 in Settings › General. The regular background check still runs.

  • Stop all online checks with Stop watching and quit in Settings › Backup & app. Nothing is checked until you open Amphibious again.

  • Remove a holding with Edit › Remove. It's deleted from this Mac's database.

  • Keep backups safe. A backup file contains your whole portfolio in readable form, so store it as carefully as a bank statement.
